Can You Live A Day Without Cellphone?
Whenever I’m drowned in the middle of the sea of humanity, I always manage to take a glance at the people surrounding me. It’s amazing to see what other people are doing while they are left with a little space to move in a place jam-packed with people. It’s crazy for me to sometimes have the feeling of being choked with paranoia of being squeezed to death by the multitude of people surrounding me while those people are just as relaxed striking the keypads of their cellphones texting. Where ever I go I always bump people with their hands and eyes focused on their cellphones. No wonder, I’m living in a country popularly called as Text Capital of the World. What if all the telecommunication providers will shut their services to the public just for one day, can these people live with it and be happy all day?
I have tried to stay away from my cellphone for many times and yes, I could live a day without my cellphone. I have left my cellphone in our house for many times but the people around me cannot live without me having a cellphone in close proximity to my body and soul. Where can they find me if I won’t have my cell. What if there are emergencies (God forbid!), important matters which they need to consult from me, important visitors waiting for me at home, or my child simply misses my familiar face? These are some of the reasons why I need to bring my cellphone wherever and whenever I go.
How about you, can you go a hundred kilometers away from your cellphone?
