This Blog Made My Sister Cry

As the Feast of All Saint’s and All Soul’s Days are nearing to come – it’s actually just two days from now, my family has already prepared to make these days special for my late mother. The preparations for this ‘event’ may not be as grand compared to other yearly celebrations, but for sure, it will be  special - special in the sense that we are celebrating it for someone who mean so much.

I am re-posting this blog which I posted in my other site (http://dorisday1971.wordpress.com) when this site was ‘under suspension’. This post is best for this All Soul’s Day.

My Mother's Tomb

My Mother’s Tomb

Today is the birthday of Mama Mary, the mother of Our Saviour Jesus Christ. The readings and gospel today never mentioned anything about the birth or the celebration of her birthday. But the whole Catholic Church is celebrating her birthday this day and I am not in the position to neither question the real date of her birth nor dig the roots as to who really knows when Mama Mary was born. My strong Catholic devotion assumes the sacredness of the Church teachings that questioning the truthfulness or falsity of what was taught in my religion class is out of my mind.

Unlike the other feasts celebrated in the Catholic Church, Mama Mary’s birthday need not be celebrated with a grandiose party –  contrary to my three-year old nephew’s belief that they should buy a cake, sing a birthday song and then make a wish before the candle is blown for Mama Mary’s birthday. My two sisters, niece, daughter and I celebrated her birthday in an extraordinary way, that is, by visiting my mother’s gravesite – weird but meaningful.

Our mother may not have been like Mama Mary- in fact different in all aspects, but her sacrifices in raising raise her seven children is nothing more like to what Mama Mary went through. My mother endured relentlessly to give us all our needs, although we were not provided with all our wants, and had to sacrifice and forego her own material desires just to provide the necessities of her seven growing children. The virtues instilled and the values formed in our young minds were greatly credited to the disciplinary psyche of our mother who wished us all to be good persons. The image of Mama Mary constantly reminds me of the agonies, sacrifices, and hurts suffered by my strong-willed mother who, despite of it all, never showed her emotional distress to her children. The problems she encountered while battling the difficult life of raising a big family made her stronger and more mature. Every inch of complicated situation was faced with much dignity that made her stand tall with head high up, and such gave her the strength to face-off whatever problems that came her way. Her might was tested in the battlefield for many times and had won many of those including the most difficult battles of all, that is, having saved her own matrimony which was once had been attempted to be destroyed by a woman’s evil mind. Our mother’s ability to be triumphant over life’s complicatedness significantly enriched our minds not to be afraid of whatever tribulations that will come our way.

hey sis,

Oh my! Imagine myself in the hotel lobby sobbing..your article about Nanay was scruciating! Did I regret reading that? Nope..I just became emotional about it, especially upon reading and being kept reminded of our childhood struggles and the crises we went through..

True enough, those were just tests of times..look how we became!

OMG! What a day!

The 13th day of this month is not as good as the rest of the 13th day of the previous months. I had my share of series of ”kamalasan” today. The number thirteen cursed me pretty well.

I was an inch closer to a car accident, the strap of my shoe went on its own way leaving my shoe and me behind, a bowl of food slipped from my hand, got the wrong PIN of my ATM, and was accused as “contrabida” by the jeepney driver. Omygosh, what a terrible day!

My Site Is Back!!

I am exhilarating with joy to see my personal website again. it has been around four months ago when I made my last post here. This website mean so much too me for this came into being with lots of experiments, trials and mostly, error. When I made this site, I never had a single idea how to go through with site making. In other words, this website is a fruit of hard work. I got higly emotional when I lost this. I’m just so thankful that WordPress allowed me to get this back. Thanks.

Can You Live A Day Without Cellphone?

Whenever I’m drowned in the middle of the sea of humanity, I always manage to take a glance at the people surrounding me. It’s amazing to see what other people are doing while they are left with a little space to move in a place jam-packed with people. It’s crazy for me to sometimes have the feeling of being choked with paranoia of being squeezed to death by the multitude of people surrounding me while those people are just as relaxed striking the keypads of their cellphones texting. Where ever I go I always bump people with their hands and eyes focused on their cellphones. No wonder, I’m living in a country popularly called as Text Capital of the World. What if all the telecommunication providers will shut their services to the public just for one day, can these people live with it and be happy all day?

I have tried to stay away from my cellphone for many times and yes,  I could live a day without my cellphone. I have left my cellphone in our house for many times but the people around me cannot live without me having a cellphone in close proximity to my body and soul. Where can they find me if I won’t have my cell. What if there are emergencies (God forbid!), important matters which they need to consult from me, important visitors waiting for me at home, or my child simply misses my familiar face? These are some of the reasons why I need to bring my cellphone wherever and whenever I go.

How about you, can you go a hundred kilometers away from your cellphone?

The Cinderella Story of Kendra

Once upon a time in a far away land of Cancabato there lived King Daddy and Queen Mommy who have a beautiful daughter named Princess Cinderella Kendra.

It’s a beautiful sunny day. The magnificent blue sky is enveloped with cotton-white clouds and is brightened by the radiance of the splendid colors of the rainbow perfect for today’s occasion. Princess Cinderella Kendra is celebrating her 3rd birthday. She is having a grand birthday celebration in the Royal Garden outside the castle where the Royal Family lives. She is dancing with her Prince Daddy while her Queen Mommy is amazed to see their fantastic royal dance. Under the shade of a huge tree is her fairy god Ate (in orange) who is holding a violet magic wand that was used to “Bibbiddi      . . . . . bobbiddi . . . . boo” to turn her into a princess. At twelve midnight, she will say adieu to everyone leaving behind her golden slipper. Her prince daddy will return that golden slipper to her and they will dance all day. The end.

That’s the interpretation of her drawing.

Resurrected

I am elated to have this site back. For more than four months of hibernation, this site is resurrected. Thanks to the Administrator of WordPress, he lifted my suspension – such suspension was due to my  . . .  ., never mind. . . just read it in my post in my other blog, http://dorisday1971.wordpress.com. .  I am extremely happy to have my site back. This is the first blog I made and it was very disappointing when this blog was suspended. I learned my lessons in blogging the hard way!
