blogging by accident
I have been an internet addict, or should I say “surfing” addict for more than a decade now. I surf whatever pops up my mind. After I gave birth and stopped working full-time last December 2005, I got more time to explore in the web. The internet became my comfort zone after a day’s pampering of my only daughter. I learned so many web-related things except blogging. I even entertained web-designing but never did I make an effort to do some blogging. Many would wonder why on earth I did not engage in blogging when in fact it is the easiest and most basic of all web-related stuffs. Let me give you some reasons. First, I don’t read the discussions or forum sections of a website, so it’s impossible for me to respond, reply or post a comment. Second, I just read the topics of my interest and what I read are all stored in my brain. Besides, I thought that the brain is the most reliable storage of all information of my interest. Second, I am not fond of putting into words my activities. Third, the idea of staying too long writing about what I have already done and what I will do gives me the fear of consuming my precious time. Until one day . . . . I finally realized that my brain is entertaining more memory lapses and gaps rather than memory absorption. So I started searching and asking in the web what are best things to do to avoid forgetting. I opened one site and started asking questions and then somebody answered. That’s where I started blogging. . . Here’s the story behind that “forgetting” issue: One day, I drove my car to a nearby grocery store for my routine weekly shopping. After an hour or two inside the said grocery store and having bought my weekly food supply, I left the grocery store and immediately rode a passing public utility vehicle. When I reached home my husband asked me where I parked the car. I answered, “It’s you who used the car. Where did you park it?” My husband was so surprised at my answer! It was only then that I realized that I left the car in the grocery store parking area. From then on, I always brought with me a notebook, where I take down notes and list the things I will do and the places where I would go. And to make my notes taking more modern, I started blogging, otherwise I would leave my car again in the parking lot!
